Brand Labs Introduces RapidCart 2.0 - Deluxe Soft-Add-To-Cart for Volusion

In recent years, as online consumers have become more sophisticated, eMerchants have struggled to find methods to help shoppers convert with greater speed and ease to satisfy this increasingly demanding clientele. Soft-add-to-cart (SATC) has become a popular tool to expedite online sales for a variety of reasons. It allows the online shopper to add items to their cart without having to leave the page they're currently on, allowing them to view (and purchase) related products without having to re-navigate to the original page in order to find them. SATC also has a less tangible effect in that it overcomes the mental barrier many consumers have about "committing" to a product by making the process of adding it to the cart much gentler and seemingly less intractable.

"We've had a SATC for Volusion for some time," explains Kevin Harman, president of Brand Labs. "RapidCart 1.0 was a little, freeware plugin that we offered to the entire Volusion community. It was simple, handy and pretty popular. Then Volusion introduced their own SATC in their Winter '09 release, and it was pretty similar to the freebie version we'd had for a while. With RapidCart 2.0, though, we introduced a lot of more sophisticated features to rival the types of functionality you see on sites like Target.com and Gap.com."

RapidCart 2.0 allows Volusion store owners to implement a rollover call to action anywhere that product appears dynamically on their site. When activated, a lightbox appears with a product detail shot (and alternate shots, if available), product options, pricing information and an excerpted product description. In addition to the advanced functionality of RapidCart 2.0, Brand Labs customizes the look of the tool for each client to match the design of their Volusion site.
